Did You Ever Play Break Dance

B-boying or breaking, also called breakdancing, is a style of street dancethat originated primarily among African American and Puerto Rican youth, many former members of the Black Spades, the Young Spades, and the Baby Spades, during the mid 1970s.[1] The dance spread worldwide due to popularity in the media, especially in regions such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Russia, and South Korea. While diverse in the amount of variation available in the dance, b-boying consists of four kinds of movement: toprockdownrockpower moves, and freezes. B-boying is typically danced to hip-hopfunk music, and especially breakbeats, although modern trends allow for much wider varieties of music along certain ranges of tempo and beat patterns.

As it stands now, the dance can be best described as acrobatic, creative and technical expression to music while maintaining a level of charisma through which movements appear effortless. Such an idea might seem impossible to the layman, but proper instruction and education can help anyone learn to break dance. Along with basic techniques and concepts, it is paramount to instill an emphasis on the creative aspect of the dance, as one's movements become the voice through which expression is achieved.
Resources such as Youtube can also be invaluable in learning to break dance, as there are numerous videos explaining and exemplifying the basic moves. This might be an ideal option for one who is interested in learning the dance, but isn't sure how to get started. However, while learning online has definite benefits, for such an intricate dance, it is best to eventually find an instructor, either on a personal basis or any of various dance studios.
